What’s that Sound? Results Apparently my little game was harder than I thought! Good. Nobody got all 15 sounds correct, and only one participant got 14 correct. My congratulations therefore go to User Campi, the only person to guess 14 sounds correctly. As it turned out to be a little hard, however, I decided to reward the 7 people that got 13 correct with a Cave Capsule 2013 as well. Additionally, all users that got less than 10 correct will be rewarded with a participation prize of 250 nuggets. Prizes will be distributed some time soon, and an administrator will post in this topic once prizes have been handed out. The right answers were as follows (+ all variations that were accepted): Sounds all copyrighted to their respective owners: Anton, RHumphries, melack, dobroide, timtube, thfc140491, hantorio, flarn2006, husky70, Snapper4298, spookymodem, Yuval, FlatHill and captainvince. Every single participant got numbers 3, 4 and 5 correct. Wow! I thought none of you biked.. Only 10 people got sound 7, 14 people got sound 11, and 21 people got sound 15. Some popular wrong answers were: Static? Really now? I wouldn’t be that mean! ...Honest! Two sneaky users tried to send in their guesses twice on two separate accounts. Tut, tut, I explicitly said no sharing or helping each other! The second entry of these users has been disqualified and they were notified of their disqualification. If you feel you were mistakenly disqualified, you are welcomed to contact glitch. Lastly, I’ve got a few personal highlights from the grading process to share with you… *Yawn* Mm. That’s it for now. 11 was one I was stuck on forever but knew the sound of somewhere in my life. After seeing the answer it’s a clear “oh of course!” moment. A couple of mine I had right on my first idea and then changed them D: (Originally had breaking glass and rattling pencils). Was simply “plane” wrong for 7? Did we have to specify a propeller?

Well poo, my original guess for the last one was glass, but I thought it didn’t sound glassy enough. (So I switched it to tearing wrapping paper…thought maybe it was a holiday thing.) I never would’ve gotten 11 right because when my camera zooms, it goes, “Zoooooooooooom, zoooooooooooom,” not “Zoom, zoom!” (I. e., it’s very slow.) For 10 I originally thought it was the sound one made when shaking an aerosol paint can before spraying. Thinking back on it, it still doesn’t sound like aluminum crumpling, to me. It seemed to have a rhythm to it, so I’m the one who then changed that to tapdancing. ;_;

I’m sure I listened to 10 more than all of the others combined and I still ended up taking a wild guess. You’d think I’d know the sound of aluminum being crushed since I recycle so many cans every month at the store but nope xD 15 had me stumped as well so, another poor guess there. I didn’t think twice about 7 though, I just put “airplane” but I guess I wasn’t specific enough. Oh well, it was a fun game! :D

AWR, I think I only got 12 correct D: But it was fun anyway! I didn’t think I’d have fun doing this but I kinda did ;w; —YAY! Oh my Maker tho, 11 was a lens?! skJdgsd;sdfsjdgiwouldhaveneverguessedthatBAW— It sounded like a printer to me, I swear (I worked as a labbie at the Grpahic Design printing lab at my university so that really sounded like an active printer to me). Oh well. Also I was stumped on 12 for the longest time and I was going to put ‘sticks’ for it but I thought that would be too simple. :I WELL APPARENTLY I WAS WRONG— xD Also… I’m very glad I made you laugh, Bone Monster. I live for that. ;“D

Darn, only 11 correct. XD Then again, I’m surprised I only got 4 wrong and not more. Hahaha, and here I thought I was being silly when I thought something was being crushed for number 10. Should have went with that, dang it. Plus I was thinking that 12 was the sound of some frustrated person screwing up all the papers on their desk, and 11 a printer.

Prizes have been distributed! Pirran, the correct answer for 7 was a “helicopter”. Since very few people actually got “helicopter” we decided to also give credit to answers if they included a propeller and were reasonably close (e.g. “propeller airplane” is kinda sorta close to helicopter). So yes, “airplane” on its own is considered incorrect (by far the most common form of airplanes today are not propeller airplanes)

I said plane for seven too I think… But that’s probably because the airport near our house if so small that only helicopters and propeller planes land there, thus those are the most common things I hear (aviation-wise). And I started to say traffic on one of them but changed it to static because it didn’t sound distinct enough for traffic to me… I guess it must be traffic on a busier road than any they have around here. The sounds were too close together for me to really think it was traffic, I’m used to a more distinct pause between cars passing.

I guessed printer on the camera one as well. XD And had a really hard time with the glass one. (which is silly, because I’ve broken several things just in the last couple of months x-x) Of the answers I got right, #12 was the one I spent the most time on. It sounded like linkin logs to me (I used to play with them a lotttt as a kid), so I was sure it was something like sticks clacking together, but kept doubting myself. This was a really fun event XD I’d put off doing it for quite a few days, thinking they would all be really hard, so it was nice that most of them were pretty common noises.
