Custom Pricing Guide

Utilize this guide to aid you in estimating a price for a future custom!

Because of the personalized nature of customs, you may not find a specific edit listed, or your edit may fall into an “in-between” category. If you’d like more information about how a certain edit would be priced, please echo Mycenangelo, the official artist account.

Base Prices

What is included in the base price of a custom? For the base price, you get the unaltered template of the species, type, and pose of your choice colored however you’d like by an artist! The complexity of the coat design does not alter the price. The base cost of a species is priced according to the complexity (layers, shape, etc.) of the template which in turn correlates to how many hours an artist generally spends creating a finished product of that particular species.

Common Edit Prices

What is an edit? An edit alters or adds to the base template lines or shading. Edits are optional and come at an additional cost to the base price. Edits increase the price of your overall custom because artists must spend additional time creating edits on top of the base template.

Simple Color/Gradient - 3 PP ($15)

Pattern/Simple Scenery - 4 PP ($20)

Detailed Scenery - 5 PP+ ($25+)

Pet backgrounds depict scenery and layer behind Mycenians. Due to their size and detail, backgrounds tend to be the most time-consuming edit for artists to make. If you are thinking about getting a background, keep in mind that it will increase the cost of your custom significantly and will also likely at least double the amount of time the artist spends making your custom.

Mini or Partial Background - 3 PP+ ($15+)

  • A small shape that layers behind the pet (price increases with complexity of shape).
  • Simple scenery or complex scenery (price increases with level of detail).
  • Choice between art style of the artist’s choice or painted style.

Basic Large Background - 10-12 PP ($50-60)

  • A simple large shape behind the pet (i.e. a circle, square, or rectangle). This is the standard circle template, but minor adjustments to size or position can be made.
  • Simple scenery (e.g. clouds/sky, beach/water, outer space, grassy field, wall with a simple window, silhouettes) filling the background shape.
  • Choice between art style of the artist’s choice or painted style.

Complex Large Background - 13 PP+ ($65+)

  • A large shape behind the pet (price increases with complexity of shape).
  • More complex scenery (price increases with level of detail).
  • May include pop-out elements that go beyond the borders of the background shape (inclusion and complexity increases the price).
  • May request the art style (price increases with complexity of style).

Edit Limitations and Notes

If you plan on getting a heavily edited custom, you may be wondering if your edits are allowed! Below, you will find some general guidelines about edit limits.

  • Making major structural changes to a large part of the body is not allowed.
    • Removing the back half of an ineki and replacing it with a mermaid tail is too much of a structural change.
    • Removing the back legs of a kelph is fine as long as you aren’t making major structural changes anywhere else on the body, including the tail.
    • No more than two limbs can be completely removed.
    • Redrawing multiple arms or legs in different positions is too much of a structural change. A maximum of one arm or leg can be repositioned.
    • Completely repositioning the head is too big of a change.
  • Making major changes to the eyes, ears, and muzzle/face shape, all on one custom, is not allowed. Making major changes to one or two of these aspects and pairing it with minor changes is fine (e.g. ear replacement + eye replacement + minor muzzle edit is okay).
    • Changing the ineki ears to horse ears and the ineki muzzle to a horse-shaped muzzle is fine as long as you aren’t drastically changing the eye shape as well.
    • Putting an object (e.g. skull, mask) on the head is fine as long as an unedited muzzle, eyes, or ears poke out.
  • Using an exact copy of someone else’s edit on your custom is not allowed without permission.
    • You can have the same exact type of edit (e.g. if one custom has a unicorn horn, it doesn’t exclude other people from requesting a unicorn horn edit).
    • You can re-use someone’s edit if you show proof of their permission. Please contact Mycenangelo for pricing help for re-used edits. The edit must be on the same pose and species for re-use.
    • If you want an edit on one of your customs to be re-used on another custom of yours, that is fine. Please contact Mycenangelo for pricing help for re-used edits. To be eligible for re-use, the edit must be on the same pose and species.
  • Face edits (i.e. horns, muzzles, hats, ears etc.) and front leg edits (leg hair, bracelets, clothing, claws) need to be within the outer limits of the forum avatar boxes.
    • Edits not essential to the ineki’s structure, such as big hats and horns, will be turned off or slightly altered in the forum avatar version at no additional cost.
    • If you wish for these to be re-drawn in the avatar version instead, let your artist know before the order price is set—re-drawing edits for the avatar version will increase the cost of the edit.
    • Edits that are essential to the ineki’s structure and cannot be turned off in the avatar version, like big muzzles and ears, will need to be altered for the forum avatar version, and this consideration will automatically be calculated into the edit’s cost.
Edit Queue Differences

The pricing in the above guide is largely also accurate for edits added through the edit queue, but there are a few differences.

  • “Included” edits on the pricing guide, such as a closed mouth, whiskers, tail swap, etc., are not 0 PP edits in the edit queue.
    • This is because artists have to spend time swapping edits out/recoloring/re-saving files when re-editing a custom.
    • Most of the “included” edits on the pricing guide will fall between 1 PP - 3 PP through the edit queue. Contact Mycenangelo for an estimate.
    • Getting the base or parts of the base re-colored comes at an additional cost.
  • The price of changing markings or recoloring parts of the body depends on the extent of the recolor
    • Adding a few markings - 1 PP ($5)
    • Adding small markings all over the body - 2 PP ($10)
    • Recoloring a smaller section of the body (e.g. head, two legs, template tails, etc), or adding more elaborate markings all over the body - 3 PP ($15)
    • Recoloring a larger section of the body (e.g. chest + torso, a big hair edit, etc) - 4 PP+ ($20+)
    • If you’re wanting an old custom revamped, that can usually go through the edit queue (though it takes multiple rounds depending on the revamp).
Contact Mycenangelo with specific inquiries and they will give you more details!

  • You can use the edit queue to change the name of a custom/sprout coat - 1 PP ($5)
  • A single edit that is too big for the edit queue, such as a background, needs to go through the custom queue. It cannot be broken into multiple rounds through the edit queue.
