[ACTIVITY] Mycena Cave Inktober (Oct 1 - Nov 1)

TeaTales
For this activity, you are welcome to draw anything you wish - it doesn’t need to be Mycena Cave related.

Edit: Oops, got ninja’d by Crow. :‘D

(Sorry about that double-ping, TeaTales!)

Looking at the concerns about time zones and being able to post at the right times and the like, I kind of wonder if it’d be possible to get the little time clock in the corner of the banner to also list the date to help people out. I know I’ve found it a useful reminder that the day hasn’t quite rolled over yet for MC, but I’m only one hour off Mycena time so it’s a lot easier for me to keep track. I dunno, just a silly thought.

If you’re on PC, you can hover your mouse over the clock to get the full date.

Though it gives you different numbers if you hover over the numbers vs the ST…

Jacq Ooooooh, I see! I also see after trying it out that my computer likes to merely flash me with the numbers in a blink and you miss it show which may be why I never knew that! XD Learn something new every day, though, thanks for the headsup!

I HAVE…a dip pen and new sketchbook and a new thing of India ink bc all my old pen and paper stuff seems to have VANISHED just in time for this event~

(notebooks get angry about being hoarded and never used, then they vanish when u actually want them)

What if written pieces are a little shorter than the 200 word minimum by a just few words? Or have just 150 or 160 words?

Could they still count, if enough effort were put into them? I fear writer’s block could happen.. And some of the prompts I don’t think I can put into picture form.

Don’t worry, there isn’t a true minimum for written pieces for this! The 200-300 words is more of a suggestion to keep them short - ficlet style rather than true short stories. Expecting anyone to churn out potentially 31 written entries of significant length would be… way too much, haha.

That’s good, because sometimes my brain just runs out words, lol. I was surprised I did as good as I did in the adventure during the Faire. I still want to try and finish that, though.

Inktober has officially started!

The current week’s submission thread is here. There will always be a link to the current week’s thread in the first post of this thread, and the site banner will update with the daily prompt automatically.

The general Inktober forum is here. Feel free to post any Inktober-related threads there.

Also, if you want to see the Inktober entries in recent posts, remember to enable the Inktober forum under “manage filters” on the forum history page!

Just want to say that I love the addition of the top banner with the daily prompt! That’s going to be a great reminder to do it and a fantastic way to keep track of when rollover occurs on MC! <3

Are we able to cross post our entries in a musings/character cavern thread to keep them all in one place! :0

sweaters
There’s a general Inktober forum, and one player posted an open thread for keeping track of submissions here, if that helps at all!

Ibis
I hope I’m not being too obnoxious, but did you mean to post your Day two submission in the Week 1 thread? It looks like you accidentally posted it in this announcement thread instead!

snafflewyrm
Ahh thank you! I meant specifically reposting my writing in my musing thread to consolidate all the writing!!! I wanted to double check with staff so it didn’t seem like I was farming nuggets ;o;

Posted 10/02/19
I accidentally posted twice today because I double clicked the post button when my connection was slow. Is it possible to delete the post (There might be an easy way to do it but it is late and I am having a hard time figuring it out) or can I edit it tomorrow for tomorrow’s prompt? Or might that be interpreted as an early post?

I got it for you! :) No worries!

I have to ask, even though it’s a long shot - is your day 2 submission in any way related to the 2003 classic “Your Evil Shadow Has a Cup of Tea” song?

Posted 10/03/19, edited 10/03/19
Jacq I had honestly never heard of it!! But I just listened to it now and omg I love it… it’s so fitting for my day 2 prompt. :‘D
Posted 10/03/19
sweaters Apologies for missing your question! Reposting in musings is fine. <3

I’m suddenly paranoid and worried…we don’t need to put username/number on art or the name of the prompt actually on what we draw or anything, do we? I don’t want to not qualify because I didn’t write it on the paper before photographing it or something…
Posted 10/05/19

Dracogryph I believe we are required to sign with our username on art pieces.

I will however say that I’ve forgotten multiple times and had to edit my posts… It’s hard to remember, so I hope staff will be a bit lenient, perhaps… haha

Dracogryph
It is listed in the requirements to sign your artwork with your username - but a few misses here or there isn’t a big deal. I have a hard time remembering too. So, just try your best!

Edit: In other news, because I don’t think I’ll remember to post later and I don’t want to double post, I just wanna say how awesome it is to see so much art and writing in the recent posts every time I look! :D I am super enjoying admiring everyone’s work!

...ah, the signature thing is only in the submission thread, not on this one, which is where I was looking at the rules to try to figure out if it was required. No wonder I got confused. Thanks for confirming and pointing that out though, I’ll do my best to remember to sign things, thanks for the clarification!

Posted 10/05/19
aaaaaa I didn’t realize that was a rule since it wasn’t in the main info post ;; should I go back and fix my first 4 posts or can I just start doing that for the rest of the month?
Posted 10/05/19
Oh I missed that too. Someone else asked about it or I would have completely missed it :“D
Posted 10/05/19
Does the username thing apply to me? I’m writing for the inktober prompts for everyday
Posted 10/05/19
Crow So question regarding the username thing…I wanna post these elsewhere and I don’t go by the same name everywhere… I do incorporate the prompt word into each drawing tho, so that should be fairly unique enough to indicate that it was created for MC’s activity?
Posted 10/05/19

JessicaxMaya
No worries about the username thing for written entries!

Chimerical
That’s fine. The main idea behind having folks sign their entries in some way is so that we know that people aren’t posting art that doesn’t belong to them. It hasn’t been an issue in the past, which is why I’m pretty lenient on this rule - but if it were something that started happening going forward, it may be something that we’d have to be more strict about.
