That’s exactly what it’s for :D (it just made its way in today)
Another thing: starting today, changing your username can occur a maximum of once in any 60-day period. This is to make usernames more recognizable, so that we don’t need to rely as heavily on people’s numeric User IDs to identify them. The 60-day counter only applies when you change your username, so if you register with a typo you can fix it right away, and if you want to change your username you can, but once you change your username you’ll need to wait a minimum of 60 days before you can change it again. Changing your username now also involves a confirmation page, so you can check it for typos before confirming :)
