[ACTIVITY] The Drawntlet 2022 (July 1st - July 31st)

Pinging Cien since you posted last 8);

I’m a little worried that my 9th and 10th entries got missed since all the spotlights were picked but my last two submissions for last week haven’t been graded yet? ^^;

Posted 07/17/22

Purr Sorry for the delay on that! Because we’re currently tracking the weekly challenge manually, it takes us longer than last year to go through and grade the submissions - especially since week 2 was the first full week! The spotlights are done separately from grading, though there are cases where a spotlight piece is chosen before it’s officially graded (in that case, the entry is checked but just not marked yet).

Please rest assured, it isn’t just you - we’re still working through week 2, and if there’s any problems we will reach out via echo. We want everyone to get proper credit! And apologies again for the delay!

Oh awesome, thanks for letting me know! Glad to hear that’s the case :D

Update to Drawntlet Guidelines

We hope everyone’s Drawntlet is going well! We wanted to let everyone know about an update to the guidelines in regards to art entries with a major portion of the work not personally done by you - such as AI generated art and editing/coloring other artwork, etc.

While this year there is no minimum effort required for entries, if you submit an entry that falls into the above description, please do the following:

  • Include what was done by you vs the original, preferably with screenshots of what you’ve added to the entry (before/afters, WIP shots, etc. will all work for this purpose).
  • If you’re submitting an entry where you’ve added to or edited an existing piece of artwork not created by you, ensure that the source explicitly allows sharing and editing.

Please take a moment to review your entries and edit your posts as necessary. If you’ve submitted a piece falling into this category for week 3 (which is being graded now), please echo Cien and Crow with the additional information.

If your entry has already been accepted, you’re fine!

We know this is a very last minute addition, and apologize for the change so late in the game! Please feel free to ping or echo us with any questions. The Town Square page will be updated with this addition shortly.

Thanks!

I’m just very happy with the submission page. I enjoy how it is broken up by weeks. I like that it shows the link in url form so I can check to make sure that I put the correct link. I like that it shows what weeks are opened and closed. I like that it shows bonus credit points and their breakdown. I enjoy that it shows what entries have been checked off by staff and ones that haven’t. And I just think it’s cool that someone (Crow?) is really doing a great job of chugging through all of the entries checking.

Thank you for your kind words, Hoax!

Since they probably wouldn’t come forward and toot their own horns so to speak, I’d like to highlight not only Crow but also Cien and Prose for their work validating submissions this year. Drawntlet is always a marathon on our end as you can imagine — in particular in the non-obvious cases, or when we need to reach out to people — and they are doing an absolutely incredible job of it :)

Awh I love that! I’m really glad that there’s some great teamwork going on there! It seems like a daunting task in my opinion, to do the submission grading for all those posts, and a relatively invisible one as well. So that’s extremely good to hear!

I’m a little worried, as my Week 5 submissions were all accepted, yet I don’t have credit for doing the Weekly Challenge?  I’ve double checked my entries, and they are all the same:  Inventory.  Are the Weekly Challenges still being graded?

Also, I just have to say, I’m in awe of the staff who have gone through the entire month doing all this grading manually.  My hat’s off to you all for the sheer dedication and willpower to diligently work on this!

OregonCoast Sorry for the delay - we’re indeed checking everything manually! We grade for points and grade for the weekly challenge separately! The weekly challenge takes longer because everything needs to be compiled first, then graded at the very end. Crow has about half done but is waiting until the thread closes tonight to finish! If we see something that wouldn’t count or see an issue, we’ll reach out - please don’t worry!

@Cien Thank you so much for letting me know! I was looking over my entries, to see if anything needed corrected prior to the thread being closed, but it looks like each one is there.  I’ll try to be patient,  thank you <3 <3 y’all are rock stars!

Thank you for the spotlight, I appreciate it, and thank you Crow and Cien and Prose for all the hard work you are doing for this event, y’all are awesome! <3

Thank-you for all of your hard work, everyone, and tysm for the spotlight! This was my first Drawntlet and while I didn’t think I would be able to commit to the whole month when I started, I’m so proud that I did! I already can’t wait for next year!

All Drawntlet points have been distributed!

If you notice an error with your point total, please reach out to Crow and/or Cien and we will be happy to look into it! Prize distribution will begin shortly.

Important note:

A small handful of people may notice that either their point total is higher than the maximum of 41 or that their tally states that one point was spent, even though we haven’t processed anything from the prize shop yet. During point tallying, I accidentally gave out 3 points for week 3’s challenge instead of the correct amount. That ‘spent’ point you may be missing is because I needed to fix that total. If you’re still seeing a higher point total than you should have, please let Crow know so she/I can fix it!

A note regarding prize distribution:

As prize distribution is a manual process, it will take us some time to work through the prize shop. We will do our best to keep on it, and to keep tabs on where we are within the thread as post order allows. We will, of course, be happy to resolve any errors we may make in the process, but we do ask for your patience while we work through things!

Participation prizes will be distributed within the next few days - we will note in this thread when that’s happened!

Thank you for all of the hard work you guy put into this event, and thank you for the spotlight! I’m happy to have gotten through the Drawnlet from beginning to end once again. (It helped that my noisy neighbors went out of town for most of July..)

Thank you everyone for all your hard work in running this event! I can’t imagine how much time it took to go through all the entries!

Today I complied my writing for the event and was surprised at how much I actually wrote—more than I expected, honestly! It was really nice to see and I’m looking forward to next year’s already ^^

Also, late to say “thanks for the spotlight”, but I was happy with the piece that was selected—I don’t do poetry or poetry-esque things often so I’m glad it was liked!

Participation prizes and stickers have now been distributed!

In total, we had 93 individuals create at least one piece for the Drawntlet! Of those participants, 68 completed the entire month, while another 14 submitted at least 5 pieces, earning them a participation sticker!
