Character:

The bejeweled dancer is a mystical dancer. Her beautiful purple gown is adorned in red and teal colored jewels. While her veil sparkles in the light. Her deep blue eyes are flirtatious and mysterious. Her dancing seems to draw in all who come to see her, they are captivated by her beauty and her dancing. They cannot seem to look away. Some even describe her as hypnotic.

This siren without words can charm anyone, and lure them to do her bidding. The bejeweled dancer is a creature of lore and anyone knows to be wary of her. Because once they hear the music, and once they see her dance, they cannot look away until she stops. Usually, she is merely a trickster and will not do anything too serious, but she has been known to in the past steal money, food or other precious items from bystanders who happened to see her. Though in some bands of travelers, seeing the bejeweled dancer is seen as an omen of good fortune and safe travels. These travelers see their missing items as sort of a toll or offering to the bejeweled dancer.

So if you are out, at dusk, and you hear a mysterious tune. You may see a fire burning and a beautiful dancer, adorned in jewels. Be wary, dear traveler, for you may be drawn in. And if you are, you will be subject to the whim of the bejeweled dancer.

Story:

The winter of a hundred years, every day grew colder, longer… and every day hope died a little more. The people began to think that spring would never come. The leader of the tribe was running out of options, his people were starving and freezing. He feared they would not make it another generation, and each generation was dwindling. He needed to think of something, and fast.
So the leader called for his only son, his heir, Hiro. He told his son that the tribe needed help, that he must search for some sort of sign for what to do. He instructed Hiro to climb to the top of the highest mountain. This mountain was known as the Mountain of Ancestors. It is where the spiritman or spiritwoman and the leader would commune with with the ancestors. They would go for advice, rituals and signs. But, once the winter of a hundred years started, the journey became too treacherous. But desperate times call for desperate measures, so the leader gave his son a pack with a week’s ration of food, a fire starter, and an offering to the ancestors. Then, the tribe sent Hiro out with song and a farewell. They were unsure if they would ever see him again.

Hiro made his way up the mountain, fighting against the cold and snow. It took him six days to make it to the pinnacle. If he couldn’t stop this winter, he would not have enough rations to make it back down the mountain. As he stood at the top, he looked around. He had heard the legends of the beauty of the place. The trees, the pillars, and the spring at the top. They would put the offering at the base of the pillar, and then drink from the spring to commune with the ancestors. Now, it was left in ruin. The trees were bare, and the pillar was crumbling. The spring was frozen over, though he could see water under the ice. Knowing what his task was, he set the offering down at the crumbled stones and went to the spring with an ax and began hacking through the ice. Once he broke through, he dipped his hands in the icy water and sipped the pure spring.

After he drank from the spring, he made a fire and a bed and went to sleep. In his sleep, he had a dream. He saw a horde of people from his tribe, he recognized a few of the elders who passed in his time, but there were so many more he did not know. An old woman, his grandmother, the leader before his father stepped forward. He called out to her, but she merely smiled and pointed to a small flower with icy petals and a glowing orb in the center. She nodded and smiled at him again and in an instant he was awake again.
The fire was burnt to embers and he woke up cold and stiff. Shivering, he glanced around. At the base of the pillar, there was the flower that he had seen in his vision. Cautiously, he approached it, the orb seemed to pulsate with light and energy. He touched it gently and it seemed to shudder under his hand. All at once, it burst forth with light, melting the snow in the area, the sun broke through and the spring broke through at last.

Poem: I See You:

I see you in the evening,
in the day and in the night.
I see you when you’re happy,
and when you have a fright.

I see you in the morning,
and even when you sleep.
I see you when you’re crying,
and always when you leap.

I see you with my special eye,
it sees when others don’t know
But I can’t do anything about it, why?
Because I’m just a volcano.

Reina was born to a mermaid mother and a human father who rules over a kingdom of dragonkin, carrying traits of both of them within her. She couldn’t envy either race, for both praised her as the princess of her kingdom, and warm smiles were always showered upon her. Deep blue yes shining brightly with hair the color of the sky gleaming with silver-lined clouds, with scales surrounding her eyes though having lessened their presence, beauty came natural to her, she lived quite pleasantly inside the castle halls, never wanting for much. With two doting parents to shower her with affections and whole kingdom to bless her with well-wishes and such, she couldn’t wait to grow up and become Queen.

As a mermaid-human hybrid, she has always been extremely adept at swimming and water magic, the talents of each coming to her naturally through coaching from her mother and father.

That was when the war hit her homeland, taking her mother from her and her father casting her away from her safety. She grew up under guard of few knights, hidden away from those who would seek her out and kill her should she be discovered. She was, however, kept safe, and when the time came, she proceeded to return to her kingdom and take it back from the intruders.

Though still young and learning how to take control of her lands, Reina has succeeded in unifying her people for the better, and has entered her kingdom into a new age of peace and prosperity, though there are still many improvements to be made. She’s still nervous about the whole ordeal too, not knowing when to take things worth a grain of salt.

Character:

Leilani is a mermaid, she has a shimmery blue tail with ripple-like markings dappled all over her tail. She wears blue shells to match her tail. Leilani’s hair is long, wavy and bubblegum pink. She is smaller than the average mermaid of her age, and her tail is very frilly. She isn’t super fast in the water with her frilly fins and wavy hair, but she doesn’t care.

Leilani is very bubbly and fun. She absolutely loves spending time with her friends. She is very vain. She loves spending the day, flipping her hair and her fins, showing off for anyone who will see. Mermaids and mermen seem to be immune to her charms as many of them grow tired of her bragging and her general flirty behavior. But her favorite group to woo are the sailors. She will perch on a rock near a known trade route and wait for a ship to come by. Once a ship is in sight, she puts on her A game, complete with flipping her curls and fanning out her beautiful tail. She will giggle and blink at sailors, enticing them.

One thing that makes Leilani different than other merpeople is that she cannot sing. She is 100% tone deaf and can’t screech out a tune to save her life. So while she cannot sing sailors off course, she does find herself pleased at the attention they give her from their ships. She uses her good looks as compensating for her lack of vocal skill.

“For the last time,” Feng huffed, “I am not flustered.”

“Oh, you are.” Whatever Feng said, Yang couldn’t remember the last time he’d heard such agitated buzzing… okay, fine, that was a lie. Any time Feng got suitably angry at him, he inevitably stopped being able to construct any sentences and resorted to unintelligible buzzing. It would be more accurate to say that Yang couldn’t remember a time when Feng had ended up at a loss for words for any reason other than being angry. Probably because it had never happened before.

“You like it,” he repeated happily—possibly a bit gleefully, because this was his first time seeing calm, collected, always-serious Feng so completely offbeat. All because of a simple little gift.

Feng flew ahead with an irritated spate of buzzing, probably in reaction to his tone. Yang couldn’t say he felt sorry about that. “It’s a rare flower,” Feng muttered grumpily, which was basically his way of saying of course I like it, you idiot. Yang reminded himself to tell Ash that. It had been a sweet surprise, only a little better than knowing that Feng actually didn’t dislike Ash as much as he claimed—probably even liked him, no matter how long the list of ‘repercussions for regularly seeing a god of decay’ ever got. (Not that the list mattered since Yang didn’t agree with any of the items anyway. Why would he let something like that stop him from being friends with one of the sweetest people he’d ever met?)

“I’ve asked Hua to keep it fresh until the end of the spring,” he said helpfully. “And when summer starts, I’ll do my best.”

“You spoke to Hua already? Nobody asked you to do that!” Beneath his visible irritation, though, Yang was absolutely sure he saw Feng light up a little. Smiling, he reached out to touch the flower Feng was clinging possessively to, the petals velvety soft against his fingers. It was beautiful, soft pinks and golds that reminded Yang of the beginning of sunrise—one of his (and Feng’s) favourite times of the day. He wondered if that was one of the reasons why Ash had chosen this flower.

“You could just say that you like it,” he said lightly. “Maybe thank him properly.” At that, Feng just buzzed in affronted reply, flying ahead again.

“As if you need to tell me that!”

Deciding to take that as a positive answer, Yang caught up to him, grinning. “I know a few places where we can start looking,” he told Feng cheerfully. And really, Feng’s lack of objection was basically the same as his agreement. Yang couldn’t wait to begin.

Dusk and Damask flower by Chou:

Word entry:

There lived a woman in the uppermost chambers of the second tower to the left of the Frellesce castle. She was not a most sociable woman. In fact, she never did leave her chambers unless His Royal Highness saw fit that she did.

The journey to said chambers was a long and tedious one; it required an hour-long trek up a tall staircase that wove around and around seemingly endlessly. It was doubly moreso for the servants who were tasked with fetching the woman whensoever His Royal Highness saw fit to deliver his summons. He did summon her quite often.

Upon reaching the vast doors that marked the only room in the tower, one would require a key to unlock them. Only one key did serve this purpose and it never left His Royal Highness’ possession unless he saw fit that it did.

The chambers itself was a place fit for royalty. Sheets of silken gold, darkwood furniture handcrafted by only the most skilled, gem-inlaid trinkets that decorated every inch of the room… but one look at the doors, locked from the outside, or the single, heavily barred window did confirm that this was a prison. A beautiful one but a prison nonetheless.

Within this prison lived a Seer. This was a Seer who was taken from her mother no more than a week after her birth once word of her third, shockingly blue eye had spread. This was a Seer who has since been encaged in this luxurious prison.

This was a Seer who was growing terribly, terribly bored.

Poem:
Glass Heart

You hold me in your hands, my heart bared for you to see.
Please hold it gently, please be safe!
This is my heart, and it easily breaks.

You whisper sweet nothings, my heart it takes flight.
Please hold it gently, please be safe!
This is my heart, and it easily breaks.

I tell you of a time, of ghosts from my past.
You hold my heart gently, and then I feel safe.
I’ve picked up the pieces of all my past breaks.

You offer a promise, you will stay true.
You hold my heart gently, and then I feel safe.
I’ve picked up the pieces of all my past breaks.

I followed you blindly, you were the one,
My gentle heart came to you, you made me feel safe,
My poor heart shudders inside as it slowly breaks.

With an awkward goodbye, you left me alone.
My gentle heart came to you, you made me feel safe,
My poor heart shudders inside as it slowly breaks.

I start to rebuild my shattered glass heart.
Please hold it gently, please be safe!
This is my heart, and it easily breaks.

Although I am hurt, and all alone, I have gotten very good at being on my own.
Please hold it gently, please be safe!
This is my heart, and it easily breaks.

Beatrix Whitaker - Bea, for short - is a talented mage with a knack for gardening. Or is it the other way around? Either way, every plant in her care thrives, no matter the species. Her gardens are among the most beautiful in all of Mycena Cave, although Bea is far too humble to ever admit it. She is not a prideful ineki, and her appearance confirms it. Her pale golden fur is often matted and so dirty that one could hardly discern the delicate honeycomb pattern across her back.

Majority of Bea’s days are spent tending her gardens: weeding, watering, fertilizing, harvesting, and planting are among the activities that must be done weekly. Somehow, she manages to do it all in record time and still have the energy for a quick jaunt into town. Bea’s love for her friends is second only to her love for her flowers, and her bright orange eyes light up at the very mention of her close companions. Bea often brings them small gifts, straight from the garden, of course!

It’s hard to imagine that this sweet fox would have a cantankerous side, but she does. It is reserved solely for any ineki who would disrespect nature in any form. Bea has been known to serve a severe tongue-lashing to anyone she catches littering, and her wrath is unparalleled for anyone caught treading on flowers. Seeing the calm, level-headed ineki lose her temper is certainly a sight to behold - and one that many do not need to see more than once.

Royal Elegance:

What is a king without his castle?
What is a queen without her crown?
If the prince has no court, is he still himself?
Is a princess still a princess, even without her gown?

What happens when the horses,
and all the shiny stuff.
Are taken from all the royals,
What do they have left to love?

Now the king is a wanderer,
the queen she learns to cook.
The prince is just a normal boy,
and the princess won’t turn a look.

Now this royal family,
they are left here all alone.
Without their army and their castle,
They have nowhere to call home.

But the king he keeps his dignity,
and the queen holds her head high.
The prince will keep on smiling,
And the princess at their side.

Because there is one thing,
that won’t leave without a trace.
This proud royal family,
will keep their elegance and grace.

Character:

In the depths of the shadows, that’s where Selena lives. She usually only comes out at night, it is very rare to see her during the day. If you do happen to catch her out in the daylight hours, you might not even recognize her, because she keeps herself covered. Dark shades, a large (but stylish) hat, and long sleeves. Sometimes she even wears a jacket, even in the sweltering summer months. She needs to protect her pale skin from the sun’s harsh rays. Her favorite colors are black and red, and most of what she wears and owns are made up of these two colors. Her favorite outfit, is her skin tight black jeans, leather jacket, and basic black or red shirt. Her hair is long and black, falling to her mid back and straight as an arrow. Her eyes are red and unsettling, and she can bring out her vampire fangs at any time.

Being a vampire has its perks for Selena, she has immortality, and superhuman strength. But, making friends is harder now, as people generally are fearful of her. She also has difficulty with the hunger. Selena’s moral compass is better than most vampires. She does not feed on the innocent, and instead will lurk the streets at night searching for unsavory characters to pick off in the night. It’s not ideal, but at least she’s not sadistic and heartless like so many of her vampiric peers. The lonely loner, she spends most of her time by herself, not really fitting in with either vampires or humans, so she has accepted her fate as a loner. She has accepted it, but she doesn’t have to love it. Sometimes, if she saves a potential victim from harm, she will attempt to talk to them. But more often than not, they fear her and will run away.

Eventually, Selena meets a band of heroes: a celestial warrior, a dragoness, and a tree nymph. Being supernatural themselves, they did not fear the vampire. She quickly asked if she could go with them on their adventures. With a smile, the celestial warrior, who was the leader of the group agreed. Selena has been with them ever since. People tend to be more accepting of her now that she is with this notable and respected group of travelers.

“‘Monster Guide Entry: on Sparkle Owlbears. Little is known about the rare Sparkle Owlbear, other than the fact that it sparkles. Dangerous, avoid at all costs’... blah, blah, blah. The kid slammed the book shut. “This is all nonsense, isn’t it?”
A rustling came in the bushes from in front of them. “Yeah, I know, right? ‘Little is known’ - why can’t you just ask someone?”
The speaker walked - well, really rolled - out of the bushes. A round, fuzzy creature, curled up in a ball. They rolled onto their back and spread their arms out, laying back on the ground. They were brown and fuzzy, with stripes on their fur, subtle sparkles woven throughout, whiskers, and glowing golden eyes. But the strangest thing had to be the small pair of iridescent, shimmering dragonfly wings on their back. They sparkled even in the shade, and if they had been in sunlight, would have glowed with all the colors of the rainbow. Sighing, they shut their eyes. “Why does no one ever ask the owlbear what they think of themself?”
The human rolled their eyes. “Yeah, I’ll be sure to write that in here - ‘Owlbears: really full of themselves.’” As they giggled, the owlbear tackled them, growling playfully, and they both broke down in laughter.
Later, a stranger walking through the woods found an abandoned monster guide, and began flipping through the pages, before coming to a stop at a page with handwritten information, and looking up to see a trail of sparkles through the woods.

Artie is a scholar. He is a lover of literature and knowledge. Being the stereotypical bookworm that he is, he much prefers the company of books to people. People make Artie downright uncomfortable. They just keep talking, and asking him about what he’s doing and judging him (he thinks). Books do none of these things. Books are silent, but impart knowledge. They do not ask him what he’s doing, because he’s already reading. Books don’t judge him, but he can judge them without repercussions. And that book smell, much better than stinky people!

This introvert usually spends his time holed up in her personal library. He would stay here forever and not speak with anyone, but unfortunately, he is employed by the royal council. What this means is that he gets the latest books and he can get his hands on limited transcripts and other rare documents. He also usually gets the most recent books ahead of everyone else. Working in the royal library has its perks for sure! But on the downside, he answers to not just the royal family, but also the council. And, they recently passed a decree where anyone can enter the main hall of the library. His private room would still stay his own, but commoners would be meandering about during the day. It was almost too much for poor Artie. They would come in and ask him questions as if they couldn’t see he was busy deciphering ancient draconic texts. But, the perks outweigh the annoyance of people, so he stays for his beloved books.

Sakura Trick

No one would expect the sweet maiden who helps run her father’s shop to have a secret life, least of all the girl who abides by his every word.  Though obedient and beautiful, Kaida is by no means soft.  In fact, she is an assassin in training - one of a secret order bound to protect the people of their land for centuries.  Sworn to the blade, she does more than her fair share of delving into the shadows.  Primarily, she deals with those that would cause the people harm - the unjust, the corrupted, the rats among men, and brings justice upon them.  Those who have seen Kaida at work say that she has a dangerous allure - tempting victims with her charm before finishing the job.  In any case, Kaida is the last person to be trifled with for one reason or another, for even the most gorgeous cherry blossom tree has it’s tricks.

Mademoiselle Noir
The towns people knew what this all was about
She was clearly a demon from hell
They decided to set her long hair on fire
In the end it would burn her as well

But the lady was no demon she was a lonely soul
Just like in that book they once read
Still waiting for her prince while her hair was on fire
The one last time she said

“Moi je m’appelle mademoiselle Noir
Et comme vous pouvez le voir
Je ne souris, ni ris, ni vis
Et c’est tout ce qu’elle a dit”
