Clarification question! The number reflects how many messages we’ve recieved from our Santa and Santa-ee respectively in total, rather than being alerts of just new messages, correct?
This occurred to me after I spent a few minutes refreshing and wondering why a new message wasn’t showing up, haha. Thank you for this! :)

Eluii: Yes, that’s correct! The alert does not show you new notifications, but rather total messages received.

There’s nothing wrong with giving it early — in the past I’ve always given my gift early since I’d get busy and forget or in this year, I might literally be leaving on a jet plane around the deadline.
